Community housing is a form of social housing assistance delivered by community organisations and local governments to individuals and families in need.
Community housing providers deliver secure and affordable rental housing to eligible applicants. This is of particular importance to those who have difficulties accessing accommodation in the private market.
The Queensland Government funds community housing providers under the Housing Act 2003.
Churches of Christ Housing Services is one of the largest not-for-profit providers of community housing in Queensland.
With over 30 years’ experience in property and tenancy management we manage approximately 1,200 tenancies throughout South East Queensland working with the Queensland Government to ensure housing assistance is provided to households in greatest need.

Queensland Housing Strategy 2017-2027
On 12 June 2017 CofCSH welcomed the release of the Queensland Housing Strategy 2017-2027.
The Queensland Housing Strategy 2017-2027 is a 10-year framework driving key reforms and targeted investment across the housing continuum.
It redefines how the Queensland Government will deliver housing to support urban renewal, generate new jobs, provide affordable housing and drive innovative housing design that responds to contemporary housing needs.
It also ensures those most in need are supported by a safety net of targeted early interventions, flexible packages of support, supportive social housing, and genuine wraparound services.

Under the One Social Housing System there is a common application system for all forms of social housing, including public housing and community-managed transitional and longer-term housing.
All eligible applicants are placed on a housing register, which is managed by the Department of Housing and Public Works.

Churches of Christ Care's Family and Individual Support Service provides short-term supported accommodation to families throughout the Brisbane, Logan, Pine Rivers and Ipswich areas.
The service caters for families who are unable to access private or public housing and who require a level of individualised support to redevelop self-reliance and independence.
Our clients come from various backgrounds and include families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, women and children escaping domestic violence, and families of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.
Case management support is provided for families in a range of property types and locations, managed by Churches of Christ Housing Services. The majority of the properties are three or four-bedroom family houses, but there is some limited flexibility to provide properties that may better suit the housing needs of smaller households.
The accommodation is unfurnished. However, where possible, our support staff will endeavour to assist families to secure basic household items through a variety of means.

Churches of Christ Housing Services does not provide emergency housing or homelessness services, but we are able to provide information and advice on services available and to assist you to register with the Department of Housing and Public Works.
